The Doctrine of Adoption

James 1:27 states that pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans in their distress..... Our goal is to bring two boys from Colombia, South America to a "forever home," where they can see and learn the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and come into a personal relationship with Him, by being raised in a Christian home by a family that loves them.

The Home Study is Complete

While we still have to wait a week or two for the results of our home study, our part is basically done. We underwent four hours of interviewing with our social worker in Mt. Vernon on Thursday, 3/11/10. The social worker came to our home on Fri. 3/12/10, and spent about two hours talking to me and my wife, and about an hour talking to each of our kids.

Also, the review process with the State of Illinois could take three to six months, so we won't know if we are approved by the state for that time frame, but our social worker has let us know that we have passed her agency's requirements. With all the crooks we have in our state, from the top down, we should actually look pretty good :)

I will say that the house is in pretty good order and we want to try and keep it that way. We had to have it in tip-top shape for our social worker's approval. The house is cleaner and more straightened than it has been in several years.

The next big step is psychological evaluations for Edna and I. That should be interesting. Edna majored in psychology in college, and she regularly refers to me as a "case study." What does that mean? :) We are in the process now of looking for a Christian psychologist to evaluate us, so if you know of anyone, please let us know.

We covet your prayers.
